Having goals during your summer break will help you make the most out of it. For ideas of what goals to work on, continue reading.

Academic Goals to Accomplish this Summer

  1. One of the first goals you should keep is that of becoming an avid reader. Reading comes with a slew of benefits (improved vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and more). If you don't read much, focus on reading half an hour each day to build a habit.
  2. Another beneficial goal is to keep a journal.  Like reading, writing can help you practice some of your academic skills. To start a writing habit, simply document your day to day life during your summer break.
  3. If there's one thing you absolutely should do during your vacation, however, it is to study your notes. This will help you prevent summer learning loss, as it will refresh what you learned during the previous school year.
  4. You should also do some physical activities. It can be easy to spend your whole summer on the couch. However, your brain and muscles need movement. Walk your pet, play with your friends, or enroll in a class to stay active.
  5. And since you have so much free time on your hands, why not try new things? Enroll in a painting class, take up a new language, or learn to bike, but take advantage of the free time to learn a new skill.
  6. Finally, if possible, make it a point to visit new places. This could be a new city, state, place in your town, or anywhere you've never been before. This will make your summer more interesting and enriching.
